VENDOR APPLICATION
Paperish Mess would love to know about your creative business and handmade products. We are always looking for new vendors from Chicago, the Midwest and beyond.
If you are an artist or a maker that is interested in being a part of our shop, please consider getting in touch!
Carefully read through all of the detailed information below (yes, we know. It is long.)
After you finish reading the content below, please contact us through the form at the bottom of the page!
We only review work online (please do not stop in on a whim with photos or physical products). Please note, we can only respond to the work that we are interested in carrying at our shop immediately. However, we will save all submissions in case we have an opening in your category down the line and feel your work represents our shop’s aesthetic, as well as our customer’s needs.
—————
Paperish Mess opened in 2012 in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood. Since then, we have aimed to create a venue that is focused on providing a curated selection and a variety of art mediums, handmade goods and community-oriented events. Our goal is to build a kind of creative hub, where it's more than just an exchange of money from customer to retailer because we are, at heart, creators and we want to invest ourselves fully into the creative artists that we know and respect. We want to connect with our community and create a space where artwork, independent artists and creative minds can come together and intertwine.
We (Sean and Lisa) are artists/makers ourselves and so have created a consignment contract of best practices from our experiences over the years of selling our own work on consignment at other shops throughout the US, and also added in a few extra things that we wish the other shops would have mentioned as the artist working with them.
We work with over 200 independent artists on a 50/50 split consignment basis. Detailed sales reports and payments for those sales are sent on a monthly basis. As makers, we know how valuable your time and creative energy is. We also know, from our own personal and past experiences, that chasing down payment for YOUR OWN WORK is not how your time should ever have to be spent.
If your work is accepted to the shop, we will send you our detailed artisan contract, a curated list of items/quantities that we’d like to bring in and of course, answer any further questions you may have for us at that time!
Keep in mind that we are always interested and looking for new work, but there are times where a category is full at that given moment. If we love and are able to bring in your work, we will get in touch as soon as the category opens back up.
